Wildlife serves as a source of gene banks for breeding programmes in fisheries, agriculture and animal husbandry.
Before the launch of any new drug or medicine, Clinical trials are conducted.
Animals such as rats, mice, rabbits, guinea pigs, frogs, Drosophila, monkeys and many other animals serve as research material for the testing of new drugs.
By means of genetic modification, plant breeders have produced a number of high-yielding and disease resistant varieties from their wild varieties.
