Spindle fibers are the type of microtubules also known as kinetochore microtubules.

It contains multiple proteins that facilitate its binding to the centromere of chromosomes during cell division.

There are two types of fibers:

  1. Kinetochore fibers: attached to the centromere
  2. Non kinetochore fibers: don’t attach to centromere, just connected to the poles of the cell.
