How do the red blood cells carry oxygen to the tissues?

Erythrocytes or RBCs contains haemoglobin. More than 90% of the weight of the erythrocyte consists of haemoglobin.

The normal adult haemoglobin-HbA is an extremely efficient oxygen carrier. This oxygen from the haemoglobin is released in tissue capillaries.
