The functions of ribosomes in plant cells are:

  1. They take part in protein synthesis.
  2. Two or more ribosomes engaged in protein synthesis on the same m-RNA strand form polyribosomes.
  3. It functions as a template bringing together different components involved in protein synthesis.
  4. The translation of genetic code, which involves interaction of amino acid-tRNA  complex with mRNA, is co-ordinated by ribosomes.
