Glycolysis is the anaerobic phase of human respiration which occurs in the cell cytoplasm. It results in the breakdown of glucose -6-phosphate to pyruvic acid which is a three carbon compound. Further the pyruvic acid enters the Krebs cycle which is the aerobic phase and occurs inn the mitochondria.
