The stolon bears the plantlets at the nodes and at their tip which then separate and develop into new plant. When the stolon are seen underground it is also termed as root stocks since they resembles the elongate rhizome. Certain members are similar to runner as they are seen above the surface of the ground later they bend themselves down the soil producing the roots and then terminal plantlets.
