The stationary phase is the phase at which the growth begins to slow down and try to maintain the size. In this phase of maturation the cell will try to attain a maximum of wall thickening and modification of the protoplasm. When the any one of the growth parameters such as growth in size or weight, increase in number of cells etc. are plotted in a graph against time a clear ‘sigmoid curve’ obtained. Here in the graph maturation phase is represented by the steady phase or stationary phase.
