The process of conversion of the products of photosynthesis like sugar to complex carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, fats and oils are known as assimilation. By photosynthetic assimilation, the photosynthate produced which are not required for any subsequent processes are converted and used for building of protoplasm and cell walls.
