Diffusion is a passive process; the movement of molecules takes place from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration. Here the molecule moves along a diffusion gradient.

Translocation is the bulk movement of the organic food from one place to another in plants. This translocation of organic food material or solutes takes place form the region of is higher concentration to the region of lower concentration.
