The phloem sap contains sugar produced by photosynthesis, which carried to the non-photosynthetic parts where they are needed. Along with the sugar it also contains amino acids, water, other metabolites, hormones and mineral elements. This sugar movement is an active transport since there is high concentration of sugar in the phloem. Some plant protein and hormones that act as signals.
