The diploid zygote is the first cell of sporophytic generation. The zygote then develops into embryo which later forms the sporophytic plant body known as the sporogonium. The sporogonium which is concerned with the production of spores which are haploid. These spores are the first cell of gametophytic generation. These spores when falls on the suitable substratum will germinate to produce gametophytic plant body. This gametophytic plant body produces gametophytes which later fuses to produce the zygote again thus completing the cycle.
