  1. During menstruation, the endometrium or the inner wall of uterus breaks down due to tearing of blood vessels.
  2. During this phase, bleeding occurs as the endometrium of the uterus is slogged off.
  3. Menstrual flow consists of secretion of endometrial glands, cell debris, unfertilized ovum along with 35-45 ml of blood.
  4. The thickness of the endometrium becomes 0.5 to 1 mm
