The characteristics of primates are:

  1. Eyes directed forwards surrounded by bony ring
  2. Flat nose
  3. Thumb and great toe shorter and opposable to other digits
  4. Body covered by hairs
  5. Hands and feet more or less prehensile
  6. Cerebrum large and well convoluted
  7. Mode of walking is plantigrade (walking on sole)
  8. Five digits in each hand and foot
  9. Presence of flat nails instead of claws.
