  1. Mulberry silk is obtained from Bombyx mori.
  2. There are two varieties of Bombyx mori namely, Univoltine and Multivoltine.
  3. The European moth Bombyx mori is Univoltine. It gives only one silk crop in a year.
  4. It produces large cocoon having good quality of silk fibre. The fibre is white or yellow in colour. It is mostly found in Kashmir.
  5. Multivoltine moth gives six to eight crops per year.
  6. This variety is found in Bengal and Karnataka.
