Which molecule is the source of energy in translation?

1 Answer

GTP (Guanine Triphosphate) is the source of energy during elongation process of translation.

It is used for the binding of new amino acid bound tRNA to the A-site of the ribosome.

It is also used as an energy source in the process of translocation of ribosome towards the 3’ end of mRNA.
