Nerve cell: The structural and functional unit nervous system is called nerve cell e.g. neuroglia and neurons (neurons are actually cytoplasmic extension of nerve cell and neuroglia are the supporting cells to the neuron).

The group (bundle) of nerve cells (i.e. neurons and neuroglia) is called nervous (i.e. nerve) tissue.

The tissue composed of highly specialized cells that possess the ability to respond to stimuli and then transmitting the stimulus very rapidly from one place to another within the body. This is called as Nervous tissue. The nervous tissue is made up of cells called the Neurons or Nerve cells.
