Fibrocartilaginous joint (a symphysis) is a combination of fibrous and cartilaginous joints.
The two pubic bones are joined by a fibrocartilaginous joint (pubic symphysis). There is a pad of fibrocartilage (pubis symphysis) between each of the two coxal bones.
Body of one bone meets the body of another bone.
Movement of fibrocartilaginous joint is limited and variable.
Fibrocartilage is also found in the annulus (anulus) fibrosus of intervertebral discs, meniscus (associated with synovial joints), and the temporomandibular joint (joint of the jaw, also referred as TMJ).
