• Fibrocartilaginous joint (a symphysis) is a combination of fibrous and cartilaginous joints.
• The two pubic bones are joined by a fibrocartilaginous joint (pubic symphysis). There is a pad of fibrocartilage (pubis symphysis) between each of the two coxal bones.
• Body of one bone meets the body of another bone.
• Movement of fibrocartilaginous joint is limited and variable.
• Fibrocartilage is also found in the annulus (anulus) fibrosus of intervertebral discs, meniscus (associated with synovial joints), and the temporomandibular joint (joint of the jaw, also referred as TMJ).
