A synovial joint has a synovial cavity which gives free movements to articulating bones.
Synovial joint is also known as movable joint or perfect joint or diarthrosis.
The connecting ends of the bones are separated by a gap.
The ends of bones are covered by hyaline cartilage.
The connecting bones are held together by tough fibrous ligaments known as capsule.
The cavity inside the capsule is lined by smooth and thin layer of synovial membrane. This cavity is called as synovial cavity.
This fluid provides lubrications and avoids friction of meeting ends of bones.
