The production of useful aquatic plants and animals such as fishes, prawns, lobsters, crabs, shrimps and molluscs by proper utilization of small and large aquatic water bodies is called aquaculture.

To meet the growing demands on FISHERIES (the industry that is committed for catching, processing or selling of fish, shellfish or other aquatic animals), different methods have been employed to increase the production. And it is through methods like aquaculture and pisciculture we are being able to increase the production of aquatic plants and animals, both fresh-water and marine.
