Genetic RNA
-
The organisms having only RNA is called genetic RNA.
-
RNA plays a genetic role in such organisms.
-
Example: RNA is found as genetic material in:
-
Plant viruses: TMV
-
Animal viruses: Influenza virus, Poliomyelitis virus
-
Bacteriophages: MS2
Non genetic RNA
-
The organisms having DNA along with RNA is called non genetic RNA.
-
In such organisms, RNA has no genetic role, but carries the orders of DNA.
-
It is heterogeneous and includes:
-
Messenger RNA(m-RNA)
-
Ribosomal RNA(r-RNA)
-
Transfer RNA(t-RNA)
All non-genetic RNA have DNA dependent replication.
