BAGGING TECHNIQUE IN PLANT TISSUE CULTURE
-
Bagging involves covering flowers on male as well as female parents separately by using suitable bags made up of polythene, muslin or paper.
-
It is necessary for female flowers to protect them from cross pollination by unwanted pollen grains.
-
Bagging is also carried out for the male parent flowers to protect the pollen from contamination and also to collect the pollen in the bag.
-
For artificial cross pollination, these flowers are uncovered and after pollination once again they are bagged till they develop seeds.
