A typical fungal cell is surrounded by a rigid cellwall, which is made up of fungal cellulose or chitin. Certain fungal cells possess complex infoldings called lomisomes similar to that of mesomes present in the bacteria. Plastids are completely absent. Fungal cell possess mitochondria, Endoplasmic reticulum, ribosomes, lysosomes, microbodies, centrioles, vacuoles and nuclei.
