Phylloclade is a flattened or cylindrical stem having nodes and internodes. The cladode is a group of linear acicular structure developing from the axils of the scales. In cladode the branch of the single internode gets flattened and becomes a leaf like structure. The phylloclade contains lot of mucilage, which help to retain the water. Cladodes are stem branches of limited growth having single internode. Whereas the phylloclade has the nodes and internodes.
