In the higher plants the photosynthesis occurs in the chloroplast, it can trap the solar energy from the sun and can conserve it in the stable chemical form. The reaction which brings about this energy transduction is known as light dependent reaction. This energy formed by light dependent reaction is used for the conversion inorganic carbon dioxide to organic form. The main function of the light dependent reaction in photosynthesis is to generate NADPH and ATP required for the carbon reduction process.
