Halophiles live in high salinity habitats like marine salterns, the Great Salt Lake in Utah and the dead sea between Israel and Jordan.
They also occur in industrial plants that produce salt by solar evaporation of sea water and even in food products such as salted fish (in which they may cause spoilage).
