The important functions of simple permanent tissues are:

  1. The simple permanent tissue; parenchyma is having the power to heal the wound, the power of division.
  2. Parenchyma cells helps in the formation of adventitious buds, it aids in the water storage in succulent plants.
  3. The collenchyma cells provide tensile strength to the growing organs, elasticity to the organs, it also give support to the vascular bundle by forming the bundle sheath.
  4. The sclerenchyma gives mechanical strength to the plant organs, firmness and stiffness to the plant part.
  5. The sclerenchyma is resistant to stress and strains, hard texture protect the internal part of the fruits.
  6. The xylary fibres participate in the conduction of water and also provide support.
