Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) produced by the anterior pituitary, stimulates synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormones. It activates the thyroid to produce T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxin). Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) is also called thyrotropin.
