Centrioles are short cylinders of microtubules.

It is a pair of small, cylindrical bodies of microtubules that lie at right angles to each other (in the cytoplasm near the nuclear envelope).

Centrioles occur in animal cells to organize the microtubules of the cytoskeleton during cell division (organizing center for microtubules and mitotic spindle).
