The winter season is an unfavorable season for the growth and survival of the plants. In order to overcome the cold conditions the buds undergoes a period of suspended growth also known as the bud dormancy. This season stimulates the synthesis of growth inhibiting compounds abscissin which dominates. ABA which induces the dormancy on meristematic tissues of the plant body.
