Having trouble deciding how I should measure fungal growth in my petri dishes properly for a class experiment as the growths are not perfect circles?

It's difficult to estimate biomass when a fungus is growing in all dimensions on solid medium.
Growth of fungus colony is expressed as a radial diameter.
If we plot colony radius/ diameter vrs time, four stages are observed. That is; lag, exponential, stationary and decline.
Note: the exponential phase is always at the tip.
Measure at two angles( diameter) and take the mean.
