By attaching to the cytosolic surface of the endoplasmic reticulum it performs the process of protein synthesis. The protein then enters the lumen and it then integrated with the sugar molecules to from the glycoprotein complexes in the smooth endoplasmic reticulum. These molecules then round off inside the vesicle and bud off from the endoplasmic reticulum.
