The different types pectin are based on the type of polysaccharides present they are mainly four types. They are the i. homogalacturonan, ii. Xylogalacturonan, iii. Apiogalacturonan, iv. Rhamnogalacturonan I and v.  rhamnogalacturonan II. These polysaccharides are present in varying ratio according the type of the plant tissue. Homogalacturonan is one of the most abundant types of polysaccharides.
