Besides the primary metabolism there is another pathway which are not necessarily vital is known as the secondary metabolism. The products formed as a result of secondary metabolism is known as the secondary metabolites or secondary plant products. Some of the secondary plant products are terpenoids, glycosides, phenylpropanoids, alkaloids etc.
