Some of the importances of fresh water wetlands are:

  1. It serves as a ground water recharging areas.
  2. It there by provides food and habitat to support many organisms.
  3. It controls the flooding since it can hold the excess water. These flood water that is stored will flow to river there by providing a continuous flow of water through the year round.
  4. It also provides sites for the fishing, boating etc.
