  1. Menstruation or bleeding occurs only when the egg is not fertilized.
  2. During pregnancy, fertilization of the ovum takes place.
  3. When the ovum is fertilized, uterine endometrium is not fertilized.
  4. Menstrual cycle starts functioning only when the ovum is not fertilized.
  5. Therefore, when fertilization of ovum occurs, the menstrual cycle stops temporarily.
