Because the mitocondrial replication is control by the cell.it has its DNA so it just contain a small portion of genome rest of all genome has been moved to the nucleus . so it can replicate by ownself becauae its a selfreplicating organelle.

becoz it contains its own DNA and ribosomes so it can replicate
