The process by which the
best adapted organisms
are preferred by
nature
out of a
heterogeneous population
is called
Natural Selection
.
In the struggle for existence in nature, individuals with
favourable variations
may have
competitive advantage
over the others.
Hence, they will survive in greater numbers and
produce proportionally
more number of off-springs.
Due to this, nature will not preserve the individuals with unfavourable variations.
These individuals with
unfavourable variations
will automatically be
outnumbered
and eliminated.
This is called as ‘The Survival of the Fittest’.
Thus, nature selects the fittest to survive.
