After fertilization, a series of changes takes place in the flower. The diploid zygote divides and redivides by mitosis to form a multicellular embryo.

The endosperm develops from the Primary Endospermic Nucleus (PEN). The ovules mature to form seeds and ovary develops into fruit.

The post-fertilization changes include:

  1. Formation of embryo.
  2. Formation of endosperm.
  3. Disorganization of nucellus.
  4. Formation of seed.
  5. Formation of fruit.
  6. Calyx, Corolla, Androecium and Style get dried and fall off.
