The sequences of DNA that can move or transpose themselves to new positions within the genome of a single cell are known as transposable genetic elements.
These are mobile genetic elements also known as ‘Jumping Genes’ or ‘Transposons’.
These genes do not have a fix location in the genome.
e.g. Alu sequences in the human genome.
