Incomplete dominance

  1. Incomplete dominance can be defined as the phenomenon in which neither of the alleles of gene completely dominates the other and the hybrid is intermediate between the two parents.
  2. Phenotypic ratio ——→ 1:2:1
  3. Genotypic ratio ——→ 1:2:1
  4. The phenotype of hybrid is intermediate between the phenotypes of the parents.

Codominance

  1. Co-dominance is the phenomenon in which both the alleles of a gene pair in heterozygous condition are expressed completely, with neither one being dominant or recessive to the other.
  2. Phenotypic ratio ——→ 1:2:1
  3. Genotypic ratio ——→ 1:2:1
  4. Since both the alleles express themselves equally, there is no intermediate expression seen.
