In bryophytes the sexual reproduction occurs by the formation of the gametangiophores. The male gametangiophore is also known as the antheridiophore. The antheridiophore bears the male sex organs antheridia which are borne inside a pit like cavity called as the antheridial chamber. The antheridiophore are produced by the male plants. The sporophyte is not formed inside the antheridiophore since the fertilization does not occur in the antheridiophore. Antheridiophore is characteristics of some liverworts.
