RNA polymerase is one of the largest enzymes known with a molecular weight of 490000.
It consists of six sub-units (i.e. polypeptide chains) - two identical α-subunits and one identical chain of each of β, β’, Ω and σ subunits.
The complete RNA polymerase enzyme is termed as holoenzyme.
Hence, RNA polymerase is a proteinaceous enzyme.
