The pituitary is a small gland, situated on the ventral side of the brain, just below the hypothalamus, i.e. the floor of the diencephalon.
It is lodged within a small cavity called hypophyseal fossa (Sella turcica) present in the sphenoid bone of the cranium.
It is connected to the hypothalamus by the stalk of nervous tissue called infundibulum.

it is locates on the ventral side of hypothalamus in the sella tursica region of the brain
