The systematic study of identification classification and naming of organisms is called taxonomy.
Taxonomy is the branch of biology which deals with identification and nomenclature (naming) of living organisms and their classification on the basis of their similarities and differences.
Swiss-French botanist Augustin Pyramus de Candolle (1778-1841) coined the word Taxonomy, the science of naming and classifying of organisms.
