Explain the difference between granulocytes and agranulocytes.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GRANULOCYTES AND AGRANULOCYTES

Granulocytes are the white blood cells/WBC’s/leukocyte that show the presence of granules in their cytoplasm.

There are three types of granulocytes:

1. Neutrophils - (most common)
2. Eosinophil
3. Basophil

Agranulocytes are also a category of leucocytes/WBC’s with absence of granules in the cytoplasm, hence the name.

There are two types of agranulocytes:

1. Lymphocytes
2. Monocytes (macrophages)
