Systole – It is the rhythmic contraction of the heart (ventricles) during which blood is pumped out in aorta and pulmonary artery.
Diastole – It is the rhythmic relaxation of the heart (ventricles) or the refilling of the ventricles.
Systolic pressure – It the maximum pressure exerted against the walls of the arteries during the contraction of the heart. It derived from the Greek word which means drawing together.
Diastolic pressure – It is the minimum pressure exerted against the walls of the arteries during the relaxation of the heart (ventricles) or the refilling of the ventricles. It derived from the Greek word which means drawing apart.
