Incipient nucleus is the irregularly shaped genetic material present in a prokaryotic cell. For example, a bacterial cell.
It is devoid of histone proteins and is not surrounded by a membrane.
It contains the bacterial chromosomal DNA.
It is also known as nucleoid, genophore and naked nucleus.
