The main requirements for the formation of the somatic embryos are:
-
The amount of the auxin concentration should be high for the embryo induction.
-
The auxin concentration is reduced for the growth and development of the embryo.
-
The presence of the phyto hormones gibberellins and the ethylene inhibits the somatic embryogenesis.
-
Temperature, light, extracts (Coconut water) etc. favours the embryogenesis.
-
Presence of nitrogen is another important factor needed for initiation of embryogenesis.
-
The callus from the young part of the plants is usually more efficient.
