The main dis advantages of mass selection are:

  1. There is variation in the plant varieties so the pure line varieties are less preferred
  2. It will not help in improving the quantitative characters.
  3. It creates genetic variability and so it can itself generate genetic variability.
  4. The mass selection has to be done every year in the cross pollinated crops.
