The biogas production is carried out by using cattle dung which serves as the biomass. It is an anaerobic digestion process that is carried out in an air tight cylindrical tank called as the Digester. The digester has an inlet attached to the mixing tank for feeding of the slurry (Cow dung + water). The setup is allowed to remain as it is for about 50 days. After this time period sufficient amount of biogas is accumulated in the top of the gas tank. It is conducted through the outlet pipe and is used for house-hold purposes. The tank also has an outlet from where the digested biomass residue (Sludge) is removed as can be used as manure and fertilizer. The tank is again filled with fresh slurry and the process is repeated.
